Last week, Rajiv Surendra visited the Ukrainian Institute of America, where he met with Sofika Zielyk, curator of the exhibit, to learn about the art of pysanky, Ukrainian Easter eggs decorated with a wax-resist technique. Dating back centuries, pysanky have served as symbols of cultural identity, religious significance and artistic expression. Watch as he and Sofika delve into the stories and symbolism intricately woven into each handcrafted design as she teaches him the traditional techniques of making them.
