In humanitarian news, the Benazir Income Support Program allocates US$750 million for Pakistani women. Initially, the participants in the program receive a monthly stipend. Later, they become beneficiaries of US$3,500 to help support self-employment and gain access to family health insurance. One of the women in the program, Azakhela, aged 70, used the finances to open an electronic shop for her son. This has bettered her family's financial situation. Almost half the funds for the project are being donated by the United States.
