India’s Supreme Court has thrown out a sedition case against a senior journalist, giving hope to many who want the colonial-era law struck from the books.
A recent survey found that sedition cases have risen nearly 30 percent every year since Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power in 2014.
Most of those charged are protesters, students, academics, journalists and opposition politicians.
