The Australian Labor Party's second-biggest branch has been effectively suspended in an extraordinary intervention not seen for half a century.
The Victorian branch of the ALP has been put in federal hands, with Premier Dan Andrews and federal leader Anthony Albanese fearing its membership has been corrupted by mass branch stacking at the hands of factional powerbrokers.
