A surge in winter illnesses have forced several hospitals to declare critical incidents.
The country is dealing with a so-called "quad-demic", with flu, COVID, norovirus and respiratory conditions leading to more people occupying beds and attending A&E.
Patients at one hospital in Liverpool have been left waiting up to 50 hours in A&E, and many trusts are urging patients to attend alone.
