Season 2 Episode 5 - Gray/Pale Yellow
In today’s episode we are mixing CMYK dyes to create a Gray and a Pale Yellow colorway. Below you will find all the info on each attempt.

.72 K powder

.36 K powder
Pale Yellow

.024 M powder
.42 Y powder
#2
.40 Y powder
#3
2 - 1/16 tsp M liquid
.20 Y powder
#4
1 - 1/16 tsp M liquid
.10 Y powder
Dyes used in this video

407 Caribbean Blue (Primary) C
411 Deep Magenta (Primary) M
401 Brilliant Yellow (Primary) Y
413 True Black (Primary) K
Stock mixtures
4 tsp leveled of each powder dye mixed 32 oz hot water
*note when mixing Brilliant Yellow I do half this mixture (2 tsp leveled with 16oz hot water) as this particular dye does not have a long shelf life
Directions
Presoak yarn in plain tap water for minimum 30 minutes, overnight if possible.
Mix dye stocks and pour into pot filled with plain tap water, stir
Add yarn and turn on heat, stir yarn often until water starts to warm up then add 2 T of citric acid. Heat to temp between 180-200 and run to set for 25 minutes or until water clears. Cool, wash and dry!
