The list of sheep hunting options is long. From Aoudad to Mouflon to Texas Dall to the most hardcore hunter looking for a big Stumberg Ram, there are a lot of species people say they are going "sheep hunting" for. For us, a big Urial, whether its a big Transcaspian or maybe a big Afghan...the Urial sheep always gets the heart rate going. Not only are Urials a beautiful animal, they make for a very challenging hunt. Typically grazing in large herds, there is no shortage of eyes looking out for predators. On this hunt, we tried to get on the herd multiple times before we actually got the shot off. This herd was so big, by the time we would get settled in to a shooting position and concealed enough to try and take some time to pick out a mature ram, the herd would take off before we could pick one, or more commonly, before the one we picked was clear enough of the rest of the herd to take a shot. Finally, on one of our stalks, the herd busted us before we could even get into position to glass them and they splintered. We followed the group we knew had 2 mature males in it and made our stalk.
