Tungawan can be reached by air, ferry and land trip from places beyond the Zamboanga Peninsula. If you are from the Central part of Visayas like Negros Oriental, you can take a ferry to Dipolog City and then a four-hour land trip to Tungawan. For a faster commute, if you are from Cebu or Manila, you may reach the town by air via Cebu-Zamboanga or Manila-Zamboanga flight, and from there have a land trip for more or less two hours.
Tungawan is 31 kilometers from Ipil, the capital of Zamboanga Sibugay; 107 kilometers from Zamboanga City; 204 kilometers from Dipolog, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte; and 164 kilometers from Pagadian, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur.
