Elaine Thompson-Herah won the women's 100m final at the Diamond League meeting in Zurich, continuing her stunning form on the track.
The Jamaican sprint sensation set a new women's record in Switzerland with a time of 10.65 seconds, breaking Evelyn Ashford's (10.76) record set in 1984.
Thompson-Herah, dubbed "the fastest woman alive," finished a distant second to Britain's Asher-Smith, who ran a season-best 10.87. Switzerland's Ajla Del Ponte finished third on 10.93, just edging out another Brit Daryll Neita.
Thompson-Herah ran the 100m in under 10.70 seconds for the fourth time this season.
The five-time Olympic champion adds the title to her gold medals in the 100m and 200m earlier this summer in Tokyo.
"I am very happy with my race," Thompson-Herah told reporters. "It's good to add a Diamond League trophy to my collection, it has been a long season so I was just happy to cross the line healthy."
“It has been a crazy season, a long one and a tiring one. I was so consistent because I was just keeping the faith in me and did not allow any negativity,” said the second fastest female sprinter ever.
“It was a long season with ups and downs,” said the 29-year-old, who has endured a series of injury struggles since her Olympic sprint double in 2016. “But next year, the world record is definitely on my mind.”
Thompson-Herah not only won a Diamond Trophy but also the top $30,000 prize, and a wildcard entry to the World Athletics Championships Oregon22.
There were 25 final winners, with each champion collecting $30,000 - half the prize in 2019 - and automatic entry into next year's world championships in Eugene in the United States.
