The 21st annual Hawai‘i Bowl will kick off on Tuesday at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex, with San Jose State facing South Florida in a matchup that brings a number of island homecomings for the Spartans.
San Jose State, playing in the bowl for the second consecutive year, is led by first-year head coach Ken Niumatalolo, a Radford High School graduate and former University of Hawai‘i quarterback and assistant coach. Despite his 11 bowl appearances during a storied 15-year tenure at Navy, this postseason carries special significance for Niumatalolo, marking his first bowl game in his first season as the Spartans’ head coach.
