This summer, the Royal Armouries hosts the temporary exhibition 'Warrior Treasures: Saxon Gold from the Staffordshire Hoard'. The exhibition features over one hundred stunning objects from the Staffordshire Hoard, some of which have never been on display before!
Here, Lead Curator of the exhibition Henry Yallop, talks about his favourite objects from the collection and why the hoard is so important to finding out more about Anglo-Saxon military and social history.
The Staffordshire Hoard treasure is owned by Birmingham City Council and Stoke-on-Trent City Council and cared for on their behalf by Birmingham Museums Trust and The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery. It is currently undergoing one of the UK’s largest archaeological research projects, conducted by Barbican Research Associates on behalf of the owners and Historic England, who fund the project.
