10. Chrysler Building, New York City
Standing 1,046 feet tall since it completed erected in May 27, 1930 to became world's tallest building for eleven months before that title overtaken by Empire State Building. It is based on Art Deco design just like any other pre-WW2 building at that time. It's still the highest building with bricks wall albeit with steel skeleton.

9. Wilshire Grand Center, Los Angeles
Still in construction as this time video published but it is already topped-out and become California highest building replacing an iconic Liberty Tower by 81 feet taller. Scheduled to be officially opened at March 8, 2017.

8. John Hancock Center, Chicago
Erected from 1965 to 1969 and become Chicago first serious contender in skyscraper race to the top outside New York City. This building also equipped with America's highest indoor swimming pool which located in 44th floor. It's also amazing the fact that it only costs 100 million dollar show us how far our money has been shrinking.

7. Aon Center, Chicago
This office tower building brings nostalgic memories of destroyed twin tower in Manhattan since its outer design of two are so much look-alike. Not really surprising considering it was build at the same tie of old WTC. Anyway, as its name called, it was a Aon headquaters but now mainly owned by Jones Lang LaSalle.

6. Bank of America Tower, New York City
Advertised as the most resource efficient and ecological friendly building in the world. This one billion dollar tower provides 2.1 million square feet of floor area and 52 elevators. Located in midtown Manhattan with construction took four years and completed in 2009.

5. Empire State Building, New York City
Crowned as the highest building in the world for nearly 40 years before replaced by Sears Tower (now Willis Tower). The fact that this building was built in 13 months was outstanding and insane considering the construction method and technology on that time. By architecture it's only 1,250 feet but now the tip was extended to 1,454 feet.

4. Trump International Hotel and Tower, Chicago
Simply called Trump Chicago Tower, it was supposed to be the new tallest building on the planet once it complete but too bad 9/11 happened which makes the owner redesign tower to be a lot lower. The building look stunning nonetheless as it located next to last Chicago River curve before reaching Lake Michigan which gives sight of Lake even from ground floor.

3. 432 Park Avenue, New York City
Lo and behold, new hottest residential tower in town, it is the highest residential building in the world with highest floor is taller that any building in Manhattan. Top floor penthouse was reported sold to anonymous for $95 million. From design this is perhaps the slimmest building ever. Let's hope it's survive any typhoons from tipping over.

2. Willis Tower, Chicago
Took title highest building from Empire State Building and become one for 25 years. In 1998 marks the end on America hegemony in building race as Asian cities entering new industrial age. Used to be called Sears Tower but renamed in 2009 as the owner changed.

Build on top of original 6 WTC while destroyed twin tower footprint become memorial site. The tower measured 1,776 feet or 541.3 meter high.
