This was a gnarly day, super long session surfing all three waves, plus this little weird wave that had formed because of ice on the bottom. It acted kinda like a rock would to create a river wave, but it was made of ice. Not a good wave to surf but it was fun to try it and get short rides and see the ice.
Most of the footage here is from the shore wave, and it was pretty good! Hard to see the size with the GoPro of course, but it was fun and it's more about dodging the ice on days like this.
The ice field got super gnarly and it was brutal paddling through after taking waves. Didn't stop us though! It must have been only -10 or -15 C, but it had to have been way colder the night before for this much ice to be coming down. Lots of very solid ice chunks all compacted into bigger pieces, and the huge ones I didn't film (watch for my next video). The small ones here are like thick shards of glass. Days like these are tricky because it doesn't feel too bad, but the ice can easily break your fins off...or worse. Fun times!
