This athlete is rehabilitating from her second contact anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. She is almost 20 weeks out from her surgery. Her progress has been great for rebuilding muscular endurance, mass, and strength. Treatment is progressing into the late strengthening, stabilization and power phases.
This is a great exercise for relearning motor control during the limb deceleration phase (landing) with eccentric quadriceps activation.
She performed this exercise at the end of her treatment session to focus on dynamic knee stabilization when fatigued.
The keys to performing this exercise are:
🔑 Land softly
🔑 Quick movements
🔑 Avoid knee valgus
🔑 Parallel line with torso and tibia
As always — train both legs!
Effective and efficient rehab is criterion-based not time-based.
