January 05, 2016 - Turkish security forces clashed with Kurdistan Workers’ Party militants in the district of Sur in Diyarbakir. The PKK members were killed in Sur and the towns of Jizre and Silopi, which have been under round-the-clock curfews since last month. The military said nearly three-hundred members of the P-K-K have been killed since December 14, when security forces intensified action against them. Turkey's southeast has witnessed deadly violence after a two-year ceasefire between Ankara and the P-K-K collapsed in July. The violence has also claimed the lives of dozens of civilians and soldier.
