The best thing.
There’s a lot to like about Peperomia. But the best thing is that they’re not expensive. Or maybe it’s that there are a lot of different kinds. Or maybe that you find them in almost everywhere. Or maybe that they’re tough little guys. Like I said, there’s a lot to like.
This Peperomia caperata ‘Frost’ has been living at my house for, well it’ll be three years this summer. I like Peps. I’ve got about a dozen different ones. They are great starting plants ‘cause they’ll teach you about watering. Peps hate being overwatered, and you’ll learn quickly that they can go longer than you think between drinks. You’ll kill your first couple. I did. Then you’ll learn that what you think is too dry and what your Pep thinks is too dry are two different things.
I like the ripple of the caperatas, the red of the ‘Rosso’, the variegation of the ‘Ginny’, the mint and chocolate of the ‘Picolo Banda’, and the Dr. Seuss look of the ferreyrae. And I haven’t gotten to obtusifolia yet. I like that they’re not trending or hot or the “it” plant; even the argyreia is in the big boxes now. Yeah, there’s a lot to like.
I’ll keep you posted.
