US agents at an El Paso, Texas, border station feared riots by migrants being held in overcrowded and unsanitary cells and were 'embarrassed' and 'frustrated' by the detainees' conditions, according to documents from an internal government watchdog. The Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) inspectors found on a May 7 visit that more than half of the 756 immigrants being held at the facility were kept outside, and those inside were in cells packed at five times their capacity, the documents showed. In one cell, a total of 155 men were being held inside with only one toilet and sink. That particular cell was only meant for a maximum of 35 people. According to the report, the men were unable to lie down to sleep and temperatures in the cells reached over 80 degrees.
