Meet Dakoda Walters. He is the 2019 World Surf League (WSL) Australia/Oceania regional junior champion.
The natural footer from Angourie, New South Wales, has been developing his skills alongside Dan Ross, Laurie Towner, Dan Ross, and the late Dave "Baddy" Treloar.
Walters has already embarked on surf trips with Taj Burrow and Joel Parkinson.
Recently, he returned to Surf Lakes in Yeppoon, Queensland, to test the wave pool improvements made during 2019.
"While in the testing stage, we only caught a handful of waves, but it's super fun. I can't wait till next time when it's going to get cranked up in size and the number of them they can make," said Dakoda Walters.
The young gun says Surf Lakes produces one of the most perfect waves he has ever ridden.
Walters believes the Australian wave pool concept is great for training and perfecting maneuvers.
