UPDATE!
One thing that's important that I left out is to use a razor and shave the drill hole flush with the crescent-shaped seats on either side of the hole. Ensures the barrel plate lies completely flat on the rubber/membrane/backplate.
Short video of the steps I take to bolt-mod an IBM Model M keyboard, there's not many tutorials on this so I wanted to share. I hope it is helpful! Also want to stress if you see keys leaning into one another/ not straight up/down after you've finished, you know you need to loosen the screw a bit.
