Mexico: Gang Turf War Kills 19, Bodies Found in Abandoned Truck | Firstpost America
Authorities have confirmed that a recent surge in gang violence related to drug and migrant trafficking has led to at least 19 bodies being discovered in or around a dump truck in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas. The men had been shot dead, according to Mexico’s Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection and out of them at least six carried Guatemalan identification. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador called the loss of life “lamentable” and blamed a confrontation between two armed groups including Mexico’s powerful Sinaloa Cartel and Guatemala’s Jalisco Cartel. The Chiapas turf war has wreaked havoc in the region, leaving scores dead, forcing thousands to flee.
