According to Benis Metev with Review42, the average time spent on social media was 142 minutes (2.3 hours) in 2018. To put this in perspective, if the average person gets 8 hours of sleep per night, they are spending 14.4% of their day scrolling through social media. This is an astronomically high percentage of time spent on social media, especially when nearly 1 in 4 posts on Facebook are advertisements.
It's an addiction many of us aren't willing to admit we have. I am even willing to bet some of you even look like the individual in the thumbnail. This begs the questions, is social media addictive? If so, is social media harmful?
To help us answer these questions we had Tim Kendall on the podcast. Tim Kendall is the former Facebook Director of Monetization, former President of Pinterest, and the founder of Moment. He was recently featured in the hit Netflix Original Film, The Social Dilemma. He is not only an expert in the space, but he has the knowledge and experience to help answer these crucial questions.
