STORYLINE
Eight people have been killed and a dozen wounded in a bomb blast in Baghdad on Tuesday, police said.
The initial reports put the number of dead at three, but police sources later told AP correspondents on the ground that the number of dead had risen to eight.
The bomb was hidden in a plastic bag.
It went off on Tuesday near a bicycle shop, according to police and medical workers.
Among the injured were three women who were passing by.
The wounded were taken to a hospital, according to the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorised to speak to the media.
The bomb exploded in Baghdad's al-Jadida area in the eastern part of the capital.
Also on Tuesday, a bomb exploded inside a cafe in northern Baghdad, killing three people and wounding 31 others, said police.
The blast occurred in the mainly Shiite neighbourhood of Kisra.
