This is the first part of a week-long trip to explore the gorgeous town of Denmark, in the south-west of Western Australia, as well as the nearby attractions.
We stopped halfway along at Martup Poole Rest Area, a free overnight camp with no amenities but plenty of space and shade.
From there we stopped in Kojonup and Mount Barker, before arriving at the BIG4 Denmark Ocean Beach Holiday Park. As it was the middle of school holidays, the caravan park was understandably packed, yet the lovely grounds made up for that (and plenty of things for kids to do).
After leaving Lexi with a dog-sitter, we visited the infamous Valley of the Giants, which is part of the Walpole-Nornalup National Park. There is an admission fee for the Tree Top Walk (definitely worth it!), but the Ancient Empire Boardwalk and Wilderness Discovery Centre nearby are free to explore.
We then checked out the Giant Tingle Tree, Circular Pool and Conspicuous Cliff, which are also part of the national park and just a short drive away.
Join us next time for part 2 of our trip to Denmark, when we explore closer to town, including the spectacular Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks.
