CGTN sat down with ping pong player Liang Geliang, who played on the Chinese national table tennis team in 1971. That year, marked a historic event that began with a mistake. During the games that were held in Japan, American player Glenn Cowan hopped on the wrong bus - one that carried the Chinese team. Cowan made friends with his fellow players and the team invited the American team to play in China. The following year the Chinese team played in the U.S. During the height of the Cold War, these sports exchanges marked a significant warming of U.S.-China relations.
