My Shimano Catana UL 1000FE Arrived w/a Roll of Sufix 4lb Nanobraid!

Got an offer from Shimano USA on a Catana so i took the 1000 Ultra-lite spinner. Very inexpensive w/free Expedited Shipping! Got it in only 2-days. Plus i already got the 4K from them on a similar special the other year with other reels. I was a bit disappointed in the Daiwa Strikeforce 1000 that i got 2 days prior. Way smaller than expected.

On the Daiwa i wrapped a piece of tape for line backing on the spool. Another equal length piece was waiting. When i "tried" to put on the new Catana 1K it couldn't complete the spool's circumference. It's wider, heavier & just plain larger though both units are 1000's. I kinda new that just by eyeballing them separately. Still they both have their places in my arsenal.

I used my Fishon Spooler to put 150yd of Sufix Nanobrand Nanofilament Braid onto the Catana. Looks & feels good. I'll use the smaller Daiwa 1K for young goatfish & scads. The larger Shimano 1K will be for longer distance casting as i have an 11ft rod on it's way. Already have a 8'6" UL for the Daiwa 1K. I do have 1 more finesse spinner coming in soon. A 2000 size Okuma new release. I really wanted a new larger HD from Okuma but couldn't get a reply on it.

Also will be using Sunline Fluorocarbon Siglon 3lb(0.14mm) leaders for these mainlines. Have 2 rolls of 3lb & just added 2 4lb rolls as well. I never really enhanced my ultra light gear so thought i'd fill that gap. I already have 3 Bigfoot UL spinners, an older Avenger, a new Ceymar HD & 2 more that the name escapes me. Will most likely re-figure out the varying strengths once spooled & will dump the rest. Would like to build a "range" of strengths. The 2000 coming in next week will be the strongest UL i plan on getting. So i'll end up with a 500, 2 varying 1K's & a 2K. But will see as i have rods for them.
