Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck is on a three-day visit to India. The visit is taking place at a time when India is concerned about the comments made by the Bhutanese PM Lotay Tshering over the Bhutan-China boundary issue. Recently, in an interview with a Belgian Daily, the Bhutanese PM said that China is an equal stakeholder in resolving the Doklam tri-junction dispute. Tshering has clarified that he didn't say anything new and that Bhutan's position on the issue has not changed. Official sources said the visit is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries and had nothing to do with the recent controversy. During his visit, the Bhutanese king will hold a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu and PM Narendra Modi. Both nations will discuss bilateral relations and economic cooperation.
