As we wrap up the year 2020, in hindsight, which is always the superior vision, we'll remember a year of challenge and disappointment, and those we have lost, both in the entertainment industry, and in life in general.
Carl Reiner passed away this past summer of 2020. He was a television trail blazer, and helped shape the early building blocks of the television we know today. He was a key member of the Sid Caesar Show in the 1950s that helped form the ideas around comedy and variety shows on television. Mr. Reiner's The Dick Van Dyke Show became a classic, and helped mold the work environment/family life sitcom structure that exists across the decades and today on television, sixty years later.
We pay tribute now to Carl Reiner, and his crowning achievement on television, The Dick Van Dyke Show. Mr. Reiner, along with Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore are members of our Television Vanguard's Hall of Fame. Watching this video clip, we can understand why their were so critical to the development of television.
