As Doddy says in this video, you don't need to do a full hub service in order to make sure that your free hub is running in good order. You just need to clean the springs and pawls with a small amount of de-greaser before re-lubricating with some thin chain lube. You can then re-assemble your hub and you should instantly hear and feel the difference!
