They recommend asking about the severity of their anemia, what their hematocrit or hemoglobin number is, and at what point treatment or transfusions should be started. They also recommend questions to ask after a bone marrow biopsy has been performed, such as whether the bone marrow has changed since the last biopsy, whether there are new findings in the blood cell counts, and if there are any new chromosomal abnormalities.
