Welcome, fellow sports enthusiasts, to Game O Sports! Today, we delve into the illustrious history of cricket through the lens of the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
The #ICC #Cricket #HallofFame was launched on January 2, 2009 in partnership with the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA). It recognizes the achievements of the legends of the game from cricket's long and illustrious history. This initiative marked a special occasion during the ICC's centenary celebrations.
Initially, the Hall of Fame included 55 players from the FICA Hall of Fame, covering the period from 1999 to 2003. Since 2009, new inductees have been added every year during the ICC Awards ceremony. Noteworthy names among the first inductees ranged from W. G. Grace, who retired from Test cricket way back in 1899, to Graham Gooch, who played his last Test match in 1995.
Throughout the cricketing calendar year, induction ceremonies are held to celebrate these cricketing legends. During these ceremonies, inductees (or, in the case of those who have passed away, their relatives) are presented with a special ICC Cricket Hall of Fame cap. Even after induction, living members continue to play a role in selecting future inductees each year.
So, Join us as we honor the timeless brilliance and indelible contributions of cricket's finest.
