Galdr - verbalising the runes in the form of runic chanting - for the rune Algiz on top of an Iron Age Hillfort (during a storm!) with Artist and Shamanic Practitioner Shæryn and Astrologer Carolina on 3rd February 2017. Each of the 24 runes of the Elder Futhark sits around a wheel. The 4th of February marks the peak of the power of the rune Algiz, the rune of protection.
For this video, we visited Dundon Hill Camp, a large Iron Age Hillfort in the Somerset village of Compton Dundon. It is close to Glastonbury and there is a beautiful view from the top across the Avalon countryside. As this rune's primary energy is one of protection, this seemed a fine place to bring this rune to you. At this point on the wheel, the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the vernal Equinox, we move into the eastern sector of the rune wheel as winter begins to make way for spring.
In this video, Shæryn offers insights into the energy of this powerful rune and Carolina explains what is happening right now astrologically. They then chant the rune - known as Galdr - whilst Shæryn drums.
Shæryn and Carolina chant the runes on Glastonbury Tor and at other places in the sacred landscape throughout the year as the runic wheel and the wheel of the year turn so subscribe for more runic insights, astrology and Galdr.
