Kinang Kilaras dance is a traditional dance originating from Betawi, a native tribe of Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. This dance tells how happy the beautiful Betawi women are still depicted in the Jakarta area to this day. The word Kinang Kilaras itself comes from two words, namely kinang which means the name of a betawi character (mak kinang) and kilaras which means harmony. This dance uses musical accompaniment taken from the song ‘Petik Kelapa.’ The song was then arranged by Sudaryana who is a musical scholar with a strong ‘kromong’ musical composition. This dance was first introduced to the public in 2002 at the spectacle market, then developed as a form of community appreciation. This dance, of course, has not long been a traditional Indonesian dance, but this dance has been developed quite a lot in various regions in the archipelago. The foothold in the Kinang kilaras dance was developed from a mixture of mask and cokek dance movements. Some of the movements developed include kewer, surfing, pablang, blontur, silat, and rocking hips (rocking cendol and rocking plastic). The equipment used in this dance is a scarf that is used gracefully in the dance. The costumes used include a siger, hair pins, standing flowers, ornaments, and earrings for the head. As for the body parts, modifications of toka-toka, kebaya, belts, amprok, and scarves are used. While the lower part of this dance uses Betawi cloth.
