The thumping mode can be used to pinpoint a high resistance fault between a phase conductor and the neutral conductor of a MV cable. The EZ Thump and Smart Thump serves as surge pulse generator to continuously feed high voltage pulses into the defective cable, producing a flashover (arcing) at the fault position. This video will provide information on properly performing pinpointing/thumping on EZ Thump and Smart Thump.
