(15 Apr 2019) The trial of former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak over the multi-billion-dollar looting of a state investment fund resumed on Monday.
Najib strode past waiting media as he entered the court building, where he's facing corruption charges related to the 1MDB investment fund.
The trial began earlier this month.
One of only a few Southeast Asian leaders to be arraigned after losing office, Najib, 65, has denied any wrongdoing.
He became Malaysia's sixth prime minister ten years ago, but anger over the 1MDB scandal led to his spectacular electoral loss last May.
U.S. investigators say more than $4.5 billion was stolen from 1MDB by associates of Najib between 2009 and 2014.
Najib could face years in prison if convicted.
