A FedEx plane skidded off the runway as it crash-landed at a regional airport in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on the evening of Wednesday, October 4, after a landing-gear failure, fire officials said.
Emergency services personnel and local police “quickly staged in position and waited” for the plane to land after receiving reports that the 757 aircraft was experiencing landing-gear failure, the Chattanooga Fire Department said.
The plane circled before crash-landing, and skidded off the end of the runway before coming to a stop, fire officials said, adding that “there was no fire, only smoke from the engines.”
All three people on board were uninjured, the Chattanooga airport said.
