In the category of parlor tricks, I made this video for entertainment value. DISCLAIMER: Yes kids don't do this at home, I am a professional (shock)stuntman. This is not a factory approved method and can't be applied to every situation. However, if you can estimate to assess how much preload is in the coilover assembly, using this method is often much less eventful than you'd think. I had confidence it would be less eventful because I had a loose rear spring to compare to the installed assembly. I didn't check the front's tension but since the rate is higher there's a good chance there's more preload in the spring and it would fly farther. Note that I placed my shoe on the upper shock mount which allowed any spring load to propel the shock and spring away from my body (and anyone else present).
I've done this for years without issue so keep the comments friendly. Downside is the damper can get scratched so some cardboard under the shock assembly and in the flight path would eliminate that concern.
