North Somerset Council may well be a unitary authority but it is still a district council. This is the councillor who referred to himself on the North Somerset Council website as a district councillor but when introduced to passersby by the Bell on Wyndham Way in Portishead, denied being a district councillor. His words at the time were, "I am not a district councillor". I can recall sending him the wording. Of course at that time, Mr Ashton was unhappy that Carol Thomas and I were handing out fact sheets on the Bell. He asked what we were trying to achieve? It was a simple answer. Circulation of the truth! He quickly scurried away to his car parked in the petrol station forecourt.
