Do you drive a late model GM vehicle with the dreaded Auto Stop/Start system? Are you annoyed by the lack of a button or switch to disable the system? In this quick video, I show you how to temporarily disable the system without spending any money on a dedicated override device (which can cost upwards of $350.)
Method 1: Shift into "L" and depress the Upshift Button (marked with a +) and observe the shift indicator. Keep pressing the + button until you reach the vehicle's highest gear. On my 2016 Cruze, this was L6, as the car has a 6-Speed automatic. Other GM's may have 8 or 9 forward gears, depending on the model.
Method 2: With the vehicle off, raise the hood and prop it open if your vehicle has a prop. With the hood raised, start the vehicle. Lower the hood and place the gearshift into "D" as you normally would. (Obviously if you have to back out of a spot, go into Reverse first, then Drive!)
Note that both of these procedures will need to be repeated each time you start the vehicle.
