It is unprecedented in British legal history for the Electoral Commission to seek a court order against a major political party. The Conservative Party insist they had always intended to hand over the election expenses documents today. But tonight the Commission forcefully disputed that.
The documents relate to a Channel 4 News investigation into Conservative spending in three by-elections in 2014 and last year's General Election, which exposed tens of thousands of pounds in questionable spending.
