The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convener, Arvind Kejriwal, in the Delhi excise policy case. The Court referred his petition, in which he challenged his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), to a larger bench. A Bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta heard the case. The Bench stated that certain legal questions raised by Kejriwal in his plea challenging his arrest need to be considered by a larger bench of the top Court. Therefore, while referring the case to a larger bench, the Court found it appropriate to release Kejriwal on interim bail. The Court ordered, 'Given that the right to life is concerned and since the matter is referred to a larger bench, we direct Arvind Kejriwal to be released on interim bail.' However, Kejriwal will remain in jail despite getting bail in the ED case since he is in custody in the case initiated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
