Oklahoma City's boathouse district offers rowing, kayaking, running and cycling along a seven-mile stretch of the Oklahoma River. But just fifteen years ago this downtown river was nothing more than an ignored trickle that required mowing. A dramatic transformation began in 1993 and further improvements were made in 2009 to create the world's finest rowing racecourse. The U.S. Olympic Committee has designated the area as an official training site. The river and boathouses will provide Oklahoma City citizens and its visitors with recreational opportunities for generations.
