Casablanca City in Morocco
Casablanca (Arabic: الدار البيضاء) is the largest city in Morocco, located in the central-western part of the country bordering the Atlantic Ocean. It is the largest city in the Maghreb, as well as one of the largest and most important cities in Africa, both economically and demographically.
Casablanca is Morocco's chief port and one of the largest financial centers on the continent. The 2012 census (adjusted with recent numbers) recorded a population of about 4 million in the prefecture of Casablanca. Casablanca is considered the economic and business center of Morocco, although the national political capital is Rabat.
The leading Moroccan companies and international corporations doing Moroccan business have their headquarters and main industrial facilities in Casablanca. Recent industrial statistics show Casablanca retains its historical position as the main industrial zone of the country. The Port of Casablanca is one of the largest artificial ports in the world,and the second largest port of North Africa, after Tanger-Med 40 km east of Tangier. Casablanca also hosts the primary naval base for the Royal Moroccan Navy. [1]
الدار البيضاء أو كازابلانكا (بالفرنسية: Casablanca) هي أكبر مدينة في المغرب. تقع على بعد حوالي 95 كم جنوب العاصمة المغربية الرباط على ساحل المحيط الأطلسي. يبلغ عدد سكان الدار البيضاء 3,359,818 وهي واحدة من سلسلة المدن المغربية الممتدة على شواطئ الأطلسي، فقد طورت من ميناء صغير لا يثير الانتباه في مطلع القرن العشرين إلى مدينة كبيرة تعتبر اليوم العاصمة الاقتصادية والتجارية للمملكة المغربية، وهي المدينة الأولى في المغرب، والثالثة في أفريقيا من حيث عدد السكان (بعد لاغوس والقاهرة) إذ يقطنها نحو ثلاثة ملايين ونصف نسمة. وبالإضافة إلى كونها مدينة لا تنام فهي محافظة على طابعها المغربي الإنساني، ففنها المعماري ممتزج بين القديم بأبنيته المنخفضة والمنتظمة الشكل والحديث بمبانيه الشاهقة والفخمة كالمركز التجاري بشركاته ومصارفه وبيوت المال والفنادق الكبرى والحدائق العامة. في الدار البيضاء تختلط المدن، أجزاء من بغداد وأطراف من القدس وقطع من القاهرة وملامح من .مرسيليا وحالات من دمشق، ميناء برازيلي ومقاه إسبانية وإيطالية [2]
