Normally cavities happen form the enamel and then it goes to the pulp surface. So how it normally happens is we know that we have to brush twice daily and whenever we don’t do that there is plaque formation and plaque is nothing but a layer of the food particles with the microbes, these prevail on the top surface of the tooth structure and they stay there and if the persons is not producing brushing and all they produce acidic environment and they keep on reproducing and finally they eat the enamel surface or they eat the enamel first they make a small pin point entry and then they go to the dentin, which is the second zone or the soft zone and then they come to the third zone ,which is called as pulp, the pulp is the area where the nerves or blood vessels are there. Whenever they invade this area, the tooth often gets affected. So the progresses of the cavity or the tooth decay starts from the enamel and the dentin and then finally reaching the pulp, leading to infection, this is the stage when the patient starts feeling sensitivity and pain in the tooth.
