The Free Arabian Legion was a pro-Axis Arab and African formation originated in the aftermath of the Anglo-Iraqi War (1941). Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Amin al-Husseini played an important role in the recruitment of Arab volunteers. Some came from the Phalange africaine. These were the Muslims in the Wehrmacht.
