According to Dr Jason Tan, Associate Professor at the National Institute of Education, under the new scoring system, it would be clearer how the final PSLE score is calculated. It would also be also easier to see how Foundation level subjects are graded as they will be pegged to scoring bands for Standard level subjects. He also pointed out that while students taking some Foundation subjects could still qualify for the Express course, this would not be possible if they offer only Foundation subjects.
