Any milky or watery discharge from the nipple in a woman who is not lactating could be because of many reasons. Sometimes it can be because of nipple stimulation or usage of drugs like antidepressants or antipsychotic drugs or it can be because of excessive prolactin secretion or thyroid disorder or polycystic ovarian syndrome or prolactin secreting tumor of the pituitary glands. So these situations can lead to excess milk secretions from the breast. In a parous woman or lactating woman, even after stopping feeding, they may continue to have a milky white discharge from the breast for a period of 6 months to 1 year also.
