Following the expiration of a 5-day notice to quit given to squatters under the Ijora Causeway Bridge, the Lagos state government has begun the removal of all the illegal structures.
The exercise which is coordinated by the Special Squad on restoration of the Lagos to Badagry Rail Corridor, in conjunction with Enforcement team of the Ministry of the Environment is to ensure a total clean up of the area.
Speaking after the exercise, special Adviser to the governor on the environment, ROTIMI AKODU says the move is to serve as a corrective measure to make the city habitable for the residents.
