It's Cady's first time attending a party with her new friends, the Plastics. Unlike the typical Halloween costumes, which are meant to be scary, the Plastics dress in revealing and sexy outfits. Cady, unaware of this trend, arrives in a grotesque and frightening "ex-wife" costume, feeling out of place. During the party, she witnesses Regina George, the leader of the Plastics, kiss Aaron Samuels, Cady's crush, which sets off a chain of events that deepen the conflict between the characters and propel the plot forward.
