In this video, I explained the Functions of political system according to David Easton.
According to David Easton, political system converts input into output.
INPUT FUNCTION:
DAVID EASTON classified the input into two categories:
(A) INPUT IN THE FORM OF DEMAND:
Every individual expects the fulfilment of some of his demands from the political system, which we call inputs in the form of demands. These demands may be of four types:
* Demand for the Allocation of Goods and Services
* Demand for the Regularisation of Behaviour
* Demand for Participation in Political System
* Demand for Communication and Information
(B) DEMAND IN THE FORM OF SUPPORT:
Demand in the form of support provides the capability to the political system to meet the challenge of demands. They may be of four following types:
* Material Support
* Obedience Support
* Participatory Support
* Attention and Respect Support
OUTPUT FUNCTIONS:
The decisions or policies which are made keeping in view the input demand, input support are called outputs by David Easton. Output may be of the following types:
* Extraction
*Regulation of Behaviour
* Allocation of Goods and Services
* Symbolic Output
