Come with me to one of the largest weekly markets in Portugal!
This is Feira de Espinho, and it’s where I buy a lot of my fabrics and yarns, because they’re quite a bit cheaper, while still supporting local people.
Weekly markets are common all over the country, literally every town has one, but they all vary in size and selection of goods.
Espinho boasts one of the largest in the country, at one point it was indeed the largest, and it has been taking place since 1894!
I love the whole vibe and atmosphere of a market, so it’s fun for me all around.
You can get anything here, from livestock to fresh produce, clothing and homewares, but most importantly fabrics, yarns and all manner of notions!
